Description

The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing is seeking an experienced leader to take on the role of Director of the Learning Enhancement and Academic Progress (LEAP) Center. Qualified candidates are those whose education, perspectives, and experience enable them to direct and develop programs in the LEAP Center, which focuses on engaging and developing faculty and providing support services to enhance student academic success. This person will be responsible for short- and long-term goals consistent with the mission, goals, and strategic plan of the School of Nursing. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

This is a 20-hour/week position. Participants should also qualify for a teaching position at the School of Nursing. Appointment will be at a rank consistent with qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities include:



  • Direct and develop programs in the LEAP center, which centers on engaging and developing faculty and providing support services to enhance student academic success. Responsible for short and long-term goals consistent with the mission, goals and strategic plan of the School of Nursing.
  • Collaborates with Director of Simulation and Skills Laboratory to provide excellence in student experiential learning.
  • Designs programs, activities and environment to promote learning success of students, including remediation, tutoring, academic skill development, and faculty resources for helping students.
  • Develops, coordinates, and evaluates LEAP activities consistent with the curriculum, faculty, and student needs, using continuous quality improvement principles.
  • Facilitates faculty in developing and using innovative instructional strategies and technologies.
  • Participates in preparation of LEAP budget, as well as makes recommendations for resources.
  • Provides support to enhance students' academic success in a supportive, attractive environment.
  • Seeks funding to support LEAP programs.
  • Maintains quality of brand through ensuring excellence in educational initiatives offered to the public (e.g., CNE, CPR training).
  • Supervises LEAP staff.
  • Other related functions as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

MSN with demonstrated experience in baccalaureate education and graduate nursing education. Demonstrated ability to supervise professional staff.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate in Nursing or Education with demonstrated experience in baccalaureate education and graduate nursing education. Experience in developing and submitting continuing education for nurses. Experience in educational technologies and innovation.
