Environmental Services Supervisor - Days

Under general supervision of the department manager, the Environmental Services (EVS) Supervisor oversees, facilitates and performs work activities of EVS employees to ensure clean, orderly, and attractive rooms and other areas within the GBMC hospital campus. Assign duties, inspect work, and investigate complaints regarding housekeeping service and equipment and take required actions as needed. May take periodic inventories, screen applicants, train new employees, and recommend dismissals.

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent education is required. A combination of education and experience will be considered
Experience:
2 years of Housekeeping experience is required. Supervisory/leadership experience is strongly preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position will be considered
Skills:
* Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills Strong knowledge of and proficiency in all applicable OSHA and related local safety requirements
* Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel); ability to use all relevant electronic and communication devices
* Ability to present self in a highly professional manner to others and maintain a positive attitude
* Ability to communicate with co-workers and other departments with professionalism and respect
* Ability to maintain a professional relationship with coworkers, vendor representatives, supervisors, managers, customers and client representatives
* Ability to provide clear directions and respond accordingly to employees
* Ability to coordinate the routine responsibilities of staff and resources
* Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks
* Ability to communicate, both written and oral, with a diverse employee group and all levels of management
* Ability to demonstrate compliance with department policies and procedures as well all regulatory requirements

Patient & Workplace Safety:

Patient Population:

  • Demonstrates competency in the delivery of care and applies the knowledge to meet age-specific needs if applicable.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
* Serves as a working lead, coordinating activities of environmental service employees engaged in cleaning and disinfection
* Performs duties of an Environmental Service Associate, including but not limited to heavy cleaning as required
* Ensure patient, procedure and surgical room compliance inspections and observations
* Monitor and track Hand Hygiene compliance and all other EVS services SOW
* Assists in ensuring a safe working environment throughout the facility for all employees
* Conduct patient engagement interviews for housekeeping services and potential service recovery needs to
* Improve Press Ganey Patient Experience scores
* Monitoring employee productivity and provides suggestions for increased service or productivity
* Train, schedule, coach supervise and motivate support associates, ensuring they perform in accordance with established
* standards and consistent with GBMC HealthCare System core values
* Assists in providing guidance to staff to ensure work assignments and cleaning schedules are followed as outlined for
* Respective shift/area
* Communicates and documents operational concerns
* Maintain adequate cleaning inventory for department/unit use
* Assists in structuring work functions to ensure proper staff and resource utilization functions include environmental services,
* waste disposal and meeting room set-ups
* Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated; participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and
* hazard assessments
* Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner
* Applies knowledge of department policies and procedures, and utilizes a general understanding of other departments' functions
* Adapts procedures, processes, tools, equipment and techniques to meet the requirements of the position
* May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Pay Range

$20.75 - $31.12

Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
