Description

The Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at The University of Texas at Austin invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track, faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor that is broadly focused on emerging aeronautics, especially as it pertains to advanced air mobility, aircraft design, and propulsion.

Specific methodological areas of interest include but are not limited to the design, analysis, and optimization of novel aircraft; the design and management of energy storage and power delivery in aircraft; novel propulsion solutions for sustainable aviation; air traffic management and noise mitigation for advanced air mobility.

Candidates are encouraged to view these areas of interest in the broadest sense when determining whether they are well suited for this position. They are expected to have a demonstrated interest in the application of these areas to aerospace engineering and be able to articulate why their proposed research area will undergo significant growth over the next few decades.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a PhD in engineering, or related disciplines. The successful candidate will be expected to create undergraduate and graduate learning environments that address the needs of students from a variety of backgrounds, with differing learning styles and abilities. Further, the successful applicant will be expected to develop an externally sponsored research program, mentor graduate students, collaborate with other faculty, and be involved in service to the university and profession.
