For more than 33 years KLD Labs, Inc., has provided innovative machine vision solutions tailored for railway customers' monitoring, measurement, inspection, condition-based maintenance, and asset management needs. We are looking to hire a Director of Engineering for our Hauppauge, NY location to participate in the development of our growing range of measurement products and tools. Responsibilities for this position include:
  • Staffing the Engineering department, allocating resources, and prioritize work efforts based on company level priorities. 
  • Managing the technology of the company by working with KLD's engineering staff to determine technical approaches for product development.
  • Foster the development of "best practices" / procedure documentation - develop, maintain, and improve intra- and inter-disciplinary standards, practices, and operations to ensure consistency, correctness, and integrity from one project to the next
  • Liaise with Project Managers, managers of Sales, Operations, and Service to ensure that appropriate interaction between personnel and flow of information is maintained.
  • Facilitate investigation of new technology for use in future projects. 
  • Support the production of product, including the "delivery" of a new product to operations for fabrications. 
  • Support troubleshooting / technical investigation of service-related issues. 
  • Management of internal development projects. 

Qualifications Required (Skills)


B degree with 7 years of experience with 5+ years of engineering management experience, 
  • Solid science/engineering background, BS in Engineering required (preferably Electrical) 
  • Management experience in mechanical, electrical, and software development
  • Ability to monitor and track the performance of multidisciplinary engineering efforts 
  • PC-based computer experience (Word, Excel, Project, Visio, etc.) 
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
