Analyst Principal -Tax

SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Tax Supervisor, primary responsibilities include preparing and /or reviewing U.S. federal tax returns. Other tax responsibilities include assistance with tax research, IRS audits, various special projects, other income tax compliance matters, and preparing and analyzing certain quarterly and annual income tax provision accruals in accordance with ASC740.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Prepare U.S. federal income tax returns including tax workpapers for various Westlake subsidiaries included in the U.S. federal income tax consolidated return and any additional income tax compliance as needed (such as amended returns, tax refund claims, etc.), all using OneSource Income Tax software.
  • Prepare and/or assist with review of forms including 851, 4562, 4797, M-3, 8916-A, 1125-A, etc.
  • Prepare US consolidated federal income tax return including clearing diagnostics and e-filing using OneSource Income Tax software.
  • Assist with review of the US consolidated federal income tax return including separate company proformas.
  • Prepare U.S. federal quarterly estimated tax and annual extension calculation.
  • Prepare and/or assist with review of US international income tax compliance for all foreign entities including GILTI, E&P, FDII and foreign tax credits calculations.
  • Prepare and/or assist with review of US international tax forms such as Forms 5471, 8858, 8865, 1118, 8991, 8992, and 8993.
  • Assist Tax Supervisor with tax research and planning of U.S. income tax and various cross-border tax issues.
  • Assist outside consultant with scheduling interviews and gathering data for research and development tax credit calculation.
  • Support IRS income tax audits by gathering support documentation as needed.
  • Assist with certain quarterly and annual income tax provision accruals related to U.S. federal and international income tax.
  • Assist with various special projects including tax automation efforts.
  • Perform the primary thinking encompassed by this job description.
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Fully supports Company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence at strategic and tactical levels including reviewing area of responsibility for improvement opportunities to initiate projects or communicate ideas to management as well as active participation on project teams.
  • Ability to work remotely when not working in the office.
  • Any additional tax responsibilities or tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors in Accounting is required (Masters in Tax preferred); CPA preferred
  • Minimum 7+ years of relevant tax experience in a public accounting and/or a corporate environment.
  • Advanced OneSource Income Tax software experience required.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel required.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. federal and international income tax laws.
  • Experience with SAP or other major accounting systems.
  • Alteryx experience desirable.
  • Detail oriented and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong reconciliation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be a team player and willing to work overtime to meet deadlines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
