Account Manager-3/Employee Benefits

We are seeking an Account Manager to join our growing Employee Benefits team. This position will provide support to clients with direction from the Account Executive. A successful applicant must have professionalism, possess self-direction, manage client relationships, and exhibit strong communication and problem-solving skills.

What You'll Do



  • Supports and demonstrates IMA's core values

Client service



  • Maintains regular, professional contact to create and foster relationships with client representatives
  • Researches and resolves issues and requests in a timely manner, including issues requiring direct interactions
  • Conducts reviews and works to provide guidance on compliance related matters. Provides ongoing technical/consulting service regarding compliance and legislation to clients
  • Independently interfaces with clients, vendors, and associates to solve problems/questions relating to employee benefit programs


Client meetings



  • Participates in client and prospect meetings, and may lead meeting with guidance
  • Assists in and prepares materials and collateral for meetings and discussions
  • Records and reports meeting discussion and action items


Carrier and vendor management



  • Oversees new vendor/carrier implementations. Meets with carriers independently as required with primary responsibility for renewal management and enrollment process. Facilitates enrollment meetings
  • Reviews carrier, vendor, and plan documents and contracts
  • Maintains regular contact with carrier and vendor representatives to ensure client advocacy and that issues are being resolved in a timely manner


Communication and education



  • Trains clients on technology and resources available
  • Works with clients to develop short and long-term employee communication objectives
  • Creates member facing collateral pieces to promote and clarify benefit program features
  • Leads in person, virtual, and telephonic sessions to provide information and plan details to participants
  • Uses regular interactions to update clients on carrier and vendor partner features and services


Training and Mentoring



  • Mentors and trains other Account Managers
  • Internal partnerships
  • Actively participates and contributes to client service team operations
  • Effectively communicates client updates to appropriate team members
  • Assists with other team duties as needed - i.e., position vacancy, cover personal time off, etc.


You Should Have



  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent job experience
  • 5 or more years of relevant experience
  • Attains and maintains state life and health license in accordance with IMA standards
  • Proficiency with MS office (specifically PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, and Excel)
  • Ability to work in agency/client management systems and other related software and technology platforms
  • Ability to effectively work independently
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills - written and oral - with the ability to articulate ideas and information in a clear and concise manner internally and externally
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and problem solving with the ability to analyze and interpret data
  • Ability to present information in a group setting (in person and virtually)
  • Excellent organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple projects with variable deadlines and ability to prioritize tasks and to effectively delegate tasks as needed
  • Possesses high degree of diplomacy and tact while maintaining confidentially
  • Some travel required
