Position Summary

The School of
Medicine Research Group is seeking a Financial Analyst to compile and analyze
financial information consistent with our annual reporting cycle. The candidate
must demonstrate strong data management and reporting skills utilizing multiple
financial systems to meet reporting parameters. They will work collaboratively
with our partner organizations to quantify, analyze, and finalize reporting.

This position will be
responsible for data extraction from various reporting systems and platforms
for institutional reporting requirements, including various ad-hoc reports that
are requested outside of the annual reporting cycles. The successful candidate will oversee the
budgeting, reporting, and projections processes. In addition, the qualified
candidate should demonstrate advanced knowledge and experience in integrating
information from various data platforms such as Excel, Access, and general
ledger systems. Reporting to the Sr. Associate Dean of the SOM Research Group,
the Financial Analyst will work with program directors and managers to
establish and develop budgets and monthly forecasts, analyze monthly
financials, and develop meaningful financial metrics to measure the
effectiveness and efficiency of operations. This individual will perform strategic
and financial analyses along with reporting and systems development for the School
of Medicine Research Group (SOMRG). Other
duties include performing advanced accounting functions in relation to SOMRG
and associated business components, and leading and coordinating the design and
implementation of financial, accounting budget systems and reports for SOMRG.

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and/or projections.
  • Proven ability to provide guidance to leadership on financial topics or processes
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and administering automated financial information and reporting tools using complex spreadsheets and database/reporting applications
  • Skill in developing and implementing new strategies and procedures and formulating policy
  • Ability to compile, analyze, interpret, and present complex financial reports, statements, and/or projections
  • Strong MS Excel and Access skills, with experience in trending, projections, revenue/expense analysis, and other advanced functions.
  • Demonstrated experience with monitoring grant budgets.
  • Experience with grant submissions.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing, developing, and monitoring budgets.
  • Ability to communicate financial information to all levels across the organization
  • Knowledge and experience using Banner.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
