Product Development Technician

Required Skills / Abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in a science-related field preferred

  • Previous experience working in a chemical laboratory environment, preferably with polymers or hollow fiber spinning

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team

  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude with hands-on skills in maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory equipment

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to safety protocols

  • Proficiency in computer programs such as Excel, PowerPoint, and equipment-specific software

  • Flexibility in handling changing assignments and responsibilities

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Safely perform laboratory tasks and contribute to Air Products' safety-first culture

  • Execute laboratory and Pilot Plant hollow fiber membrane spinning and post-processing activities

  • Follow experimental plans led by project leaders to support the development and scale-up of gas separation membranes

  • Accurately record test data and maintain laboratory notebooks and data logs

  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and modify laboratory equipment and experimental systems

  • Analyze processes and equipment for potential technical or safety issues

Minimum Hiring Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in a science-related field preferred

  • Previous experience working in a laboratory environment, with a focus on polymers or gas separation technologies preferred but not required

  • Mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with laboratory process equipment and high-pressure gases

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Work Hours:

This role offers flexible working hours in a laboratory and Pilot Plant setting. You will work indoors in a highly collaborative environment, supporting projects that will impact the future growth of Air Products Membrane Solutions. The position may require occasional travel to support scale-up efforts and manufacturing transitions.
