About The Position | Major goals and objectives and location requirements

The Digital Revenue Accountant is primarily responsible for preparing journal entries and reconciling GL accounts related to revenue, such as deferred revenue, accounts receivable, unbilled revenue, revenue reserve, and other accounts assigned in accordance with accounting principles (US GAAP) as well as practices and procedures as established by DotDash Meredith.

The Revenue Account will also assist FP&A in monthly revenue analysis as needed including:

  • Preparing monthly journal entries for Digital revenue activity ensuring that all activity in assigned accounts is appropriately documented, is recorded timely and accurately and is presented in accordance with GAAP in our financial statements.
  • Partnering with finance and operational leadership to analyze reasonableness of revenue partner activity and remittances.
  • Preparing documentation for external and internal auditors while maintaining strong financial controls in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act as well as assist in coordination with external auditors and internal audit team.
  • Conducting accounting functions such as journal entries, account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assisting in contract review to determine appropriate accounting treatment and to ensure fulfillment of related reporting and invoicing requirements.
  • Resolving issues and answers questions in a high-paced environment in a timely manner.
  • Assisting with tax and audit requests and other ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests from our business units
  • Supporting management in completing special projects and other tasks as assigned

The Digital Revenue Accountant will be expected to prepare reconciliations for assigned accounts timely, and in compliance with company documentation standards.

This position is hybrid in our Des Moines office, with the ability to work remotely up to 2 days per week.

The Digital Revenue team works closely with the Digital Finance team and reports within the Controllership organization. We are mainly located in Des Moines, IA and are a fun team. About The Positions Contributions: Weight % Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results

  • 50% Prepares flash, balance sheet reconciliations, and strategic plans. Communicates results to management verbally and through written analysis.
  • 20% Partners with operational leadership and external counterparts to ensure variances of cash payments and estimated revenue are thoroughly researched and explained.
  • 10% Prepares and completes journal entries and other core accounting tasks, including application of cash payments.
  • 10% Prepares ad hoc financial reporting and analysis utilizing Excel tools and formulas.
  • 10% Performs special projects and duties for the Digital Revenue team as assigned.

The Role's Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements

Education:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.

Experience:

2-3 years' experience in relative financial analysis and accounting.

Experience at public accounting firm (preferred)

Specific Knowledge, Skills, Certifications and Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of Excel formulas, look-ups, pivot tables, etc.; preferred knowledge of Oracle, Hyperion, Operative, & Boostr.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
