Job Summary

The department of Media Equipment Services is recruiting for a Student Office Assistant to join their team of professionals.

Duties Include:

  • General clerical duties (i.e. document preparation, filing, answering phones and emails etc.). Function as receptionist and primary customer contact.
  • Management of departmental reservations and inventory system.
  • Manage checkout and return of multimedia resources to the university community.
  • Train Faculty, Staff and Students on proper use of multimedia equipment.
  • Ensure that AV/IT Assistants are notified of requests for classroom support.
  • Schedule, monitor and provide technical assistance for video conferences.

Other Career Ready duties:

  • Complete Microsoft Excel trianing.
  • PantherSoft transactions.
Desired Qualifications

  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as strong communications skills.
  • One year of relevant experience.
  • Ideal candidate must be a self-motivated individual with strong organizational skills and must be able to prioritize multiple tasks while working in a fast paced environment.
  • Candidate must be customer service oriented and possess the ability to interact with students, faculty and the general public in tactful and courteous manner.
  • The successful applicant must also possess good communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as the ability to work well with other members of staff in a team-oriented environment.
  • Working knowledge of PantherSoft Financials system is a plus.

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student at FIU with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters.
  • During the Summer semesters, Students need only remain enrolled and are not required to take credit hours, but cannot have graduated.
  • Upon graduating, student employment must end.
