I. JOB OVERVIEW


Job Description Summary:
The Office of Enrollment and the Student Success ( ESS) includes the offices of Undergraduate Admissions, Graduate Enrollment, Career Services, Office of Student Financial Assistance, Office for Student Success, and Student Services, Systems and Analytics. ESS is committed to a student-first mentality, utilizing a data-driven approach to continuous assessment and improvement across the organization. Most importantly, our goal is to ensure an outstanding experience for students. As part of the Office for Student Success ( OSS), the Program Associate will support academic success and retention initiatives to improve the student experience. The incumbent will provide wrap-around support to students in attaining their educational and personal goals, contributing to their overall success. Key components of this role will include: gathering, tracking, synthesizing, analyzing, maintaining reports and survey data, implementing outreach efforts, general advising, hosting nudge campaigns, as well as conducting success seminars and programming for Scholar Cohort students.

Specific duties include the following
:

Outreach & Intervention:

  • Supports the Executive Director for Academic Success & Retention Programs & the Program Manager in coordinating retention initiatives across ESS offices and other campus partner offices that identify and support students who are academically at risk.
  • Conducts personalized outreach to students who are candidates for academic support programs such as Mid Semester Course, Success Coaching, or Summer Pipeline and matriculation initiatives.
  • Organizes academic and college success student interventions, using data driven approaches, best practices, and internal campus knowledge to execute personalized retention campaigns.
  • Assists the Program Manager and Executive Director for Academic Success Retention Programs with conducting intrusive interventions and guidance for at-risk students as well as those who are referred by advisers, faculty, and various campus partners; and escalates cases requiring an elevated level of support.


Programming:

  • Mentors and provides collaborative wrap around programming, academic monitoring and support to Scholar Cohort students and faculty mentors.
  • Provides collaborative programming, workshops and presentations for new student orientation, first year experience courses, Scholar Cohort groups, and to the general UG student population.
  • Provide support to the Executive Director for Academic Success & Retention Programs and the Program Manager for academic success workshops, curriculum and support programming to assist students and Success Coaches in developing skills needed for successful academic experiences.

Campus Engagement:

  • Provides support to OSS leadership in outreach and training of university staff to promote awareness of factors impacting student success and retention initiatives to support best practices and to improve the student experience.
  • Provides administrative coordination with departments, Office of the Registrar, Student Orientation, Academic Advisers, and other campus partners to manage the implementation of campus-wide success related initiatives
  • Assist with collection and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data to guide outreach, intervention, reporting and tracking (e.g. student records, surveys, focus groups, interviews using various platforms such as Qualtrics, Slate, Data Dashboards).

The position is based at GW's Foggy Bottom's campus in Washington, DC. The incumbent may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior full-time experience with higher education retention and success program development, management and assessment.
  • Prior experience with data analysis. Strong ability to translate and share data to consumable formats.
  • Prior experience with software and tools for success/retention efforts.
  • Prior experience with intentional academic and "just in time advising".
  • Prior experience training, managing and developing academic success teams.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments with a diverse group of partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and develop rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Strong ability to build and manage relationships, both internal to the university (students and professional colleagues) and with external partners

Hiring Range $24.64 - $33.87
