JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Medicine, in Hershey, PA is seeking two part-time research assistants to work on funded activities with the Van Scoy Communication Lab. These positions will support research programs related to medical decision making, communication quality analysis and mixed methods research occurring in a variety of settings that include rural, urban, underserved communities and other healthcare settings. Specific duties include but are not limited to:

  • Data entry into study databases (REDCap) (training provided)
  • Preparing research materials and project materials for participant use
  • Shipping and tracking project materials to event sites
  • Tracking participant stipends and maintaining administrative project databases
  • Conducting interviews and focus groups via phone, in-person or via zoom (training provided)
  • Coding qualitative data in MAXQDA (training provided)
  • Attending lab meetings as requested
  • Other duties as assigned

The positions are part-time and temporary for up to 20 hours per week that we are looking to fill as soon as possible.

Applicants should have prior experience with administrative duties; have effective communication skills; be familiar with standard research practices; have a strong work ethic; and be able to work well independently and in a group. Prior experience conducting interviews and coding qualitative data is desirable as is experience working in community and clinical settings.

Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher (Bachelor's degree preferred) plus 1 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History
  • Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Background Check
