As a Safety Coordinator at SP+, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and enhancing the safety protocols within our passenger shuttle operations. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of transportation safety regulations, particularly those related to drivers holding Commercial Driver's Licenses (CDLs).

Salary Range: $24.40 per hour

Responsibilities

What you'll do

  • Ensure all drivers meet and maintain compliance with relevant federal, state, and local regulations, particularly those associated with CDL requirements.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety training programs for all drivers, covering topics such as defensive driving, emergency procedures, and compliance with company policies.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards, assess compliance, and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Provide support with investigations into accidents, incidents, or near misses, identifying root causes and implementing preventive measures to reduce the likelihood of recurrence.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of driver qualifications, training, and safety-related incidents and ensure all documentation is in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans, conduct drills, and provide ongoing training to drivers to ensure a swift and coordinated response in case of emergencies.
  • Regularly communicate safety updates, trends, and initiatives to management and relevant stakeholders and prepare and distribute reports on safety performance, incidents, and compliance.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in safety procedures, policies, and training programs.
  • Safely operate a shuttle bus, as needed


Qualifications

What you need

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required
  • License Requirement: Per DOT Regulations, you will be required to have and maintain a valid CDL Class A, B or C Driver's License depending on the location's hiring needs, with Passenger Endorsement if you will be responsible for operating shuttle buses with a passenger capacity of 15 passengers or more.
  • DOT Medical Card: A Medical Examiner's Certificate (DOT Medical Card) is required.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations
  • Certification in transportation safety or related field is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Prior experience as a Safety Coordinator with training responsibilities
  • Able to work a flexible shift
  • Some college preferred, but not required
