- Full Time/Part Time: Part Time
- Hours: Monday-Friday, 4:30pm-9:30pm, Saturday 9am-5:30pm
A Brief Overview: The Customer Service Representative I plays a pivotal role in ensuring the financial well-being of the hospital and its patients. This position is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients, their families, and insurance providers while assisting with inquiries and concerns related to billing, collections, and financial services.
What you will do:
- Serve as the initial point of contact for patients and their representatives, insurance companies, and internal hospital staff, addressing inquiries related to billing, collections, and financial services in a courteous and helpful manner.
- Assist patients in understanding their medical bills, insurance claims, and statements, explaining charges and payment processes, and resolving any discrepancies or concerns.
- Provide information on various payment options, financial assistance programs, and payment plans to assist patients in managing their healthcare expenses.
- Communicate with patients to secure payment arrangements and coordinate debt resolution, helping them understand and navigate the collections process with empathy and professionalism.
- Facilitate interactions with insurance providers, including verifying coverage, pre-authorizations, and resolving claims-related issues.
- Assist patients in applying for financial assistance programs, discussing eligibility criteria, and guiding them through the application process.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all interactions, payments, and financial assistance applications.
- Ensure all interactions and processes adhere to relevant healthcare regulations, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- Work closely with the Billing and Collections departments to resolve complex billing and
- Gather and document patient feedback and suggestions, reporting relevant trends or issues to the appropriate department for process improvement.
What you will need:
- Associates Degree Health Administration Required
- 1 Year of physician office or physician billing experience And
- 1 Year of customer service experience And
- 2 Years post high school education or degree preferred And
- 3 Years lab/physician office experience.
