R&D/Technology Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will support the Enclosed Controls product line at our site in Bloomfield, CT by displaying strong leadership skills and demonstrable experience in design, quality, safety and compliance, and new product development and implementation. In this role, you will be working on a product development program for our enclosed controls product line functioning as a lead design engineer and managing a team of external contracted resources.
The work model for the role is: Hybrid
You will be mainly accountable for:
* Lead and manage a team of contracted resources to execute deliverables and milestones for a new product introduction program while being responsible for meeting required scope, schedule, spend, and design rigor.
* Design, develop, analyze, and document product designs which meet the functional, cost, reliability, manufacturability, and safety requirements of the customer or market.
* Execute designs with solid modeling software (PTC Creo / Windchill) to create models, assemblies, detailed drawings, and BOMs for designs which may include plastic, stamped metal, and electrically conductive parts.
* Support manufacturing implementation of products through Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA); Develop and execute test plans including prototype design and assembly and root cause analysis.

Qualifications for the role
  • Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of engineering experience
  • Experience with 3D CAD Software design, modelling, and Bills of Materials
  • Familiarity with mechanical design for mechanisms, thermal, and structural performance.
  • Proven ability to analyze test data and solve design issues.
  • Experience with leading teams with responsibility of delegating and managing a design project
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

While base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicant's qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $74,900 and $139,100 annually.
