Dermatology Scribe
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Accompanies provider(s) during entirety of patient medical appointment and is responsible for ensuring their presence in the visit is not disruptive
  • Transcribes interactions into a high-quality, comprehensive preliminary note for physician sign off, which can include but is not limited to
    • Patient history
    • Review of systems
    • Family/social histories
    • Medication
    • Allergies
    • Physical examination findings and procedures
    • Pertinent imaging/lab study results
    • Time
    • Treatment/follow-up plans
  • Sends all preliminary documentation for physician review and in a timely manner
  • Makes any necessary amendments/changes to approach based on physician feedback and regularly incorporate feedback provided into future notes to yield noticeable improvements
  • Develops close working relationship with the provider(s) pairings and develop in-depth knowledge of preferences. Incorporates physician preferences into transcribed notes and maintains documentation of provider preference grid and communicates with provider(s) directly in mode/frequency/time preferred
  • Maintain repository of historical/current physician templates/dot phrases; incorporates updates/changes as needed to ensure it is up-to-date and readily accessible
  • Responsible for ensuring practice-wide initiatives are incorporated into notes, templates and preference grids while working collaboratively with physician(s) and administrative leadership to incorporate practice-wide changes into templates
  • Attends department meetings as needed/directed to optimize ability to stay-up to date with initiatives that will improve physician workflows and implement as directed by administrative management. Communicates with administrative management and/or assigned physicians as needed to troubleshoot any potential discrepancies
  • Maintains up-to-date familiarity with all pertinent systems, assists provider with navigating facility system/updates, ensures expected workflows/deliverables remain intact despite changing systems and attends trainings as designated by manager
  • Escalates to administrative management as needed to proactively navigate upcoming known changes to avoid disruption while serving as a go to for physician(s) to help navigate system changes pertinent to documentation
  • Assist with other administrative clerical duties related to factors affecting physician clinic to improve physician workflow as assigned

To qualify, you must have:

  • High School Diploma/ GED
  • Medical Terminology and Procedures: Understanding of medical terminology, procedures, and diagnostic tests to accurately transcribe patient interactions
  • Transcription: Ability to accurately transcribe patient interactions into comprehensive preliminary notes for physician review
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and completeness of transcribed notes, including patient history, medications, and examination findings
  • Communication: Strong communication skills to develop a close working relationship with providers, incorporate feedback, and communicate effectively with administrative management
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing systems, workflows, and practice-wide initiatives while maintaining consistency and quality in documentation
