The work County government does is unique. There are many meaningful careers that make a real difference in the lives of the citizens of Dakota County. We prosecute criminals, run a jail and monitor thousands of offenders on probation or parole. But there’s more. Dakota County employs nearly 1800 individuals whose talent and contributions makes Dakota County a premier place to live and work. We consists of four divisions, 27 departments that work in 20 locations across the County including three primary service centers, nine public libraries, a transportation maintenance facility, and other smaller facilities.
