Job Summary

The Operations Supervisor manages internal resources, external contracted resources and business applications/processes based on the need of the business unit. This includes (but not limited to) supervisory tasks in Electric Operations related to construction, design, planning, and scheduling for We Energies electric transmission and distribution systems. The Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the construction or maintenance activities related to the company's transmission and distribution infrastructure within an assigned area. Operations Supervisor ensures that all customers' needs are met in a safe, efficient and timely manner through the effective management/utilization of personnel, equipment, and materials. Their first concern is to ensure the safety of employees, customers, and contractors during all work applications.

The Operations Supervisor may be rotated to other work areas/functions within Customer Operations in order to address workload demands, gain valuable experience, and to develop an understanding and appreciation for other parts of the organization.

Job Responsibilities

In addition, this position is responsible for:

  • Training, coaching, counseling, development and discipline of personnel within their respective business unit.
  • Coordinating and communicating across several work groups and has the major responsibility for storm/emergency service restoration activities within the operating service area they are assigned.
  • Representing We Energies in contacts with the customer, the general public, municipalities, cities, townships, contractors, and their employees; they use negotiation skills to resolve conflicts, engagement skills to build networks to enhance good working relationships.
  • Availability for emergency call-outs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Five to 10 years experience in a distribution/construction operations trade and/or five to 10 years experience in supervision of direct reports.
  • Valid driver's license. This position requires driving.
  • Good working knowledge of union contracts and employee relationship building.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills are a benefit.
  • High School Diploma, HSED, or GED.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong computer skills (data entry, reading reports, work planning, etc.)
  • Technical training beyond high school is preferable
  • Field experience in Electric Operations
Additional Information

The successful candidate will be hired as an entry-level Operations Supervisor, assigned to the local training workgroup. The Operations Supervisor will work with this team in the planning, setup and delivery of technical, safety, and other training. The goal of this position is to develop technical background in electric distribution principles and procedures. This is a developmental role within Customer Service Operations and may be relocated to any service center in Southeastern Wisconsin. Additionally, the supervisor will perform field observations and assist in the guidance and monitoring of on-the-job training activities for apprentices. This position will have direct reports upon completion of the developmental role.

Pay Range Minimum: $88,472.54

Pay Range Maximum: $132,708.94

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs. At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
